Biggest Loser – Losing Disobedience for Obedience

Fresh News No Comments

Let’s be honest…. something in our nature feels far more prone to disobey than obey.  In fact… even the very word “obey” makes most of us recoil in our gut.

Well…. that’s a problem!  Because the Bible is full of passages that address both disobedience and obedience.  It’s a pretty big subject in God’s mind, and if we’re going to “… lay aside every weight” as the writer of Hebrews encourages us to do, this is a subject we have to address.  Here’s what the Message paraphrase says:

“Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in.”

We didn’t promise that becoming big losers would be easy… but neither did Jesus.  What he did say is that it would be worth it.  Bring your training clothes this Sunday… it’s going to be a tough work-out.
